Doug Ford Blames Immigrants For His Plan To Eliminate The Green Belt

Doug Ford is facing a lot of backlash since Friday afternoon when the Ford Government announced changes to the Ontario Greenbelt. It triggered a lot of people when he decided to further explain himself on Monday at a conference in Queens Park.

While addressing the media about the end of the CUPE strike affecting the educational workers, Ford started to argue his broken promises to keeping the Ontario Greenbelt protected, saying that building on this land is unavoidable.

Ford further explained that the controversial move on the Ontario Greenbelt was a response to the increase in immigration.

"Where are we going to put 300,000 people a year, almost one million people in three years?" asks Ford.

Ford stated, “We have a housing crisis today that we didn't have four years ago," He then continued to say, “The Federal Government announced they're going to bring 500,000 new Canadians — immigrants — to this country.”

This statement triggered a lot of people on social media ranging from concerns about the wording he used to accusations of trying to deflect an important issue.
